readerbible Privacy Policy

Overview

readerbible is a Bible reading app. We design it to work without an account and to keep personal reading data on your device when possible.

Information We Store on Your Device

The app may store reading preferences, reading position, bookmarks, highlights, notes, recent searches, cached Bible chapters, and offline files in your browser or app storage. This information is used to restore your reading experience and is not sold.

Information Sent to Our Service

When you load chapters, translations, commentary, cross references, or app resources, your device sends standard technical request information such as IP address, browser or device type, requested URL, and timestamps. We use this to operate, secure, debug, and improve the service.

Optional AI Features

If you use Ask or chat features, your question and relevant Bible context may be sent to an AI service provider to generate a response. Do not include sensitive personal information in prompts.

Third-Party Bible Sources

Some Bible translations, verse data, or related resources may be loaded from third-party Bible content providers or APIs. Their services may receive standard request information needed to provide that content.

Optional Cloud Sync & Account Data

The native Android app keeps private reading data on your device until you choose Google cloud backup. If cloud sync is enabled, readerbible replicates bookmarks, highlights, personal notes, and reading-plan progress to Firebase. Account data is partitioned by Firebase user ID and protected with owner-only access rules.

Cloud sync does not upload the Bible corpus, cached chapters, audio files, authentication tokens, private diagnostics, unnecessary device identifiers, or copied verse text. You can disable sync and continue reading offline; changes remain queued locally until sync is enabled and a connection is available.

Data Export & Account Deletion

You can delete a ReaderBible cloud account and its associated synced data in the Android app: Settings, then Delete cloud account and data. The process deletes the Firebase account plus synced bookmarks, highlights, notes, reading-plan progress, and sync metadata. It does not delete your Google account. If you cannot use the app, follow the request instructions on our account deletion page.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We may share limited data with service providers only as needed to host the app, deliver content, provide optional AI responses, monitor reliability, or comply with legal requirements.

Your Choices

You can clear local app data through your browser or device settings. You can avoid optional AI features by not using Ask or chat. You can use the app without providing identifying account details, and you may export or delete supported synced cloud data whenever those account tools are available.

Diagnostics

Diagnostics are off by default. If enabled in a future privacy control, we may collect anonymous crash, performance, page-load, and feature-reliability events. We do not collect Bible text you read, notes, highlights, chat prompts, or precise reading history as diagnostics.

Children

readerbible is intended as a general Bible reading tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
